Se você está participando de algum processo seletivo e vai precisar fazer uma entrevista de emprego em inglês, é muito importante se preparar para possíveis perguntas e respostas. Um candidato bem preparado também mostra que será um funcionário preparado, e isso pode fazer a diferença.

Uma das perguntas mais famosas de uma entrevista é a clássica “what are your weaknesses?”, ou, “quais são as suas fraquezas?”.

Saber responder essa pergunta adequadamente mostra que você tem um bom conhecimento sobre as suas próprias limitações e qual caminho deve seguir para evoluir na sua vida profissional.

Being “detail-oriented” is a typically a good thing, but if you’re someone who tends to spend too much time on the specifics of a project, it could also be considered a weakness. By sharing that you focus too much on details, you’re showing your interviewer that you’re capable of helping the organization avoid even minor mistakes.

When you’ve spent a great deal of time and effort on something, it’s easy to feel apprehensive about marking it complete or passing it on to another team. Be sure, however, that you don’t answer with a weakness that is essential to the role.

While being humble when working with others can be helpful, it is also necessary to maintain a certain amount of confidence to do your job at an optimal level.

Asking for help is a necessary skill both when you are lacking expertise in a certain area and when you are feeling burned out or cannot handle your workload. Dominar as preposições em inglês costuma ser um grande desafio para a maioria dos estudantes, mas isso acontece porque temos uma tendência a atribuir um único significado às preposições e recorremos à primeira preposição que lembramos quando precisamos usar.

O problema é que a maioria das preposições podem ser usadas em contextos totalmente diferentes, e com significados igualmente diversos. Por isso, se você estuda inglês e tem dificuldades com preposições, tente observar como elas são usadas no contexto da frase.

Uma dupla de preposições que eu vejo os alunos trocarem o tempo todo é “to” e “for”, e muitas vezes elas são trocadas e acabam passando uma mensagem totalmente diferente da que o aluno queria dizer.

Essas duas preposições têm muitos significados possíveis, então vamos começar devagar para não confundir. Veja as regrinhas abaixo e os exemplos e tente observar no seu dia a dia a aplicação destes significados.

QUANDO USAR A PREPOSIÇÃO “TO”

A maneira mais fácil de compreender é pensar que “to” significa “para” e, por isso, o uso principal será para expressarmos uma direção ou objetivo. Vamos a alguns exemplos para ficar mais claro:

I am going to Rome on my vacation.

(Eu vou para Roma nas minhas férias)

I am taking a day off to help you move.

(Eu vou tirar um dia de folga para ajudar você a se mudar)

QUANDO USAR A PREPOSIÇÃO “FOR”

Já a preposição “for” pode ser traduzida como “por” (mas, é claro, não é sempre que esta tradução é adequada). Usamos “for” quando queremos mostrar o propósito de alguma coisa, ou quando fazemos algo em benefício de outra pessoa. Ah, e uma dica extra: se você usar um verbo depois de “for”, ele sempre virá no gerúndio (ou seja, com o famoso “-ing”).

(Este livro é para crianças – Neste caso, embora “for” esteja traduzido como “para”, estamos falando do propósito do livro)

Cuidado porque nem sempre essas regras se aplicam. É como eu disse lá no começo, os significados são vários, e é sempre importante observar o contexto da frase. Nem sempre essas preposições terão as traduções que eu indiquei, e, na verdade, elas ainda têm muitas outras regras. Mas como um ponto de partida você pode ter essas traduções e aplicações em mente, que com certeza ajudará na maior parte das situações.
